IHR Online Video Services

Videos offer a compelling way for you to show your practice to prospective patients. Adding video to your website allows you to provide more information, increase user involvement, increase branding, and present a more human touch. Here are some examples of what you can show with video:

  • Local news station television segment that focused on your clinic
  • TV ad you created
  • Video you created to show your clinic, such as:
    • doctor explaining a medical procedure
    • tour of your office
    • your staff interacting with patients
    • medical procedures

This web page contains the following additional information on how IHR can help you provide compelling videos, on your website, to prospective patients:

  1. Video display options
  2. Charges
  3. Optimizing your video for the web
  4. Hosting your video
  5. Procedure to add video to your website
  6. Copyright issues

1. Video Display Options

Once IHR has created your video, you have numerous options of how you want to display your video(s). Here are three video Display Options, which IHR can set up for you:

Option Number Where does the video play? Does the video automacially play or does user need to click the play button Example
1 Home Page video starts automatically Example
2 Home Page user must click on play button No current online example
3 special video page video starts automatically Example

Notice how the video is placed inside an attractive and informative branding window.

2. Charges

Following are typical charges:

  • Optimize video for the web: $200 to $500, see section below for further details

  • Host the video: free if hosted on video website (e.g. YouTube);  $10-$15/month if IHR hosts, depending on video size and number of videos.

3. Optimizing Your Video for the Web

Adding a video to your website is not simply a matter of uploading a video file. We need to do the following with you:

  • In order to achieve the optimum balance between file size and quality, the the IHR media company partner make lots of adjustments to the video file, including: file size, frame rate, compression, color, lines per inch, frame size, kilohertz level, bit rate.
  • Define where you want the video to display (e.g. home page or special branding page)
  • Define how you want the video to run (e.g. run automatically or user clicks the run button)

The cost is $200 to $500, depending on video length and which Display Option above is selected.

4. Hosting Your Video

After the video is optimized, it needs to be hosted somewhere. Here are some options:

  • Upload your video to YouTube: This is free and has an advantage that users can find your video on YouTube so you might get more traffic. There are lots of other websites that can also host your videos for free.

  • Upload your video to an IHR media server: Charge is nominal ($10-$15/month). Advantages are that you don't have to be concerned about hosting - IHR does it all.

5. Procedure to Add Video to Your Website

    • If you wish, they will hosts the video on their media server

  7. IHR then creates a link on your website to the video.

6. Copyright Issues

If you are wondering if it's OK to post a video clip which another organization (e.g. a local television station) created of your clinic, IHR suggests that you talk with the organization that created the video. They may give you rights to use the video on your website. For example, we have some clients who have displayed video clips created by local news television stations.
